configuration for Android (system version 6.0 or more)

This tutorial describes how to configure eduroam on devices running Android.

Step-by-step guide to eduroam configuration on Android

1. Download and install your IHEP eduroam root certificate from the IHEP eduroam CA website (link is external):
  • 1)Click the "Download the IHEP Root Certification" link and download the IHEP eduroam Root Certification

    •  

    NOTE: Password to the certificate will be presented on the website. Remember to write it down - it will be needed to install the certificate
  • 2)Install your IHEP eduroam root certificate
    		•

    Install certificate file from storage

    (1)Open mobile phone settings. (2)Click Additional Settings. (3)Click Privacy. (4)Click Install from stroage. (5)Find file from download path and install ca.p12 according to the below guide.

     

    Fill in the password blank with "Certificate password" that is presented on the website. Click OK button to proceed.

     

    2. Download and install your personal eduroam certificate from the IHEP eduroam CA website (link is external):

  • 1)Click the "New eduroam certificate" link and download your personal certificate

    •  

    NOTE: Password to the certificate will be presented on the website. Remember to write it down - it will be needed to install the certificate

    Install certificate file from storage

    (1)Open mobile phone settings. (2)Click Additional Settings. (3)Click Privacy. (4)Click Install from stroage. (5)Find file from download path and install client.p12 according to the below guide.

     
  • 2)Extract your personal IHEP eduroam certificate. Write the password to the certificate and click OK button.
    		•

    Click “Check trusted credentials”.

     

    Save the IHEP Root Certification Authority Certificate. Complete the pop-up window fields with following data:

    1. Certificate name: IHEP Root Certification Authority Certificate
    2. Credential use: Wi-Fi

    3. Configure to eduroam Wi-Fi network

    Turn on the wireless connection and choose the eduroam ssid.
    Configure network access in the displayed window with the following data:
    1. EAP method: TLS.
    2. Phase 2 authentication: None
    3. CA certificate: indicate the "IHEP Root Certification Authority Certificate".
    4. User certificate: choose your IHEP eduroam certificate. If it has been added to system it shall be presented on the list.
    5. Identity: XXX@ihep.ac.cn (link sends e-mail)
    6. Anonymous identity: None
    7. Password: leave it empty, as the EAP TLS authentication method relies solely on certificates (no password is needed).

     

    Your device should be ready to access the eduroam network.
